IELTS Speaking questions were shared by our Aussie friend M, who took the test twice and remembered both sets of questions. Enjoy!

Speaking test 1

Interview

– What do you do?
– Do you like living in your area?
– Would you recommend others to live there?
– What type of fashion do you like?

Cue Card

Describe a special meal you had, please say
– where you had it,
– who you had it with,
– what was the occasion.

Discussion

– Will you teach your child how to cook?
– Do children need to learn about food and cooking?
– What can government do to educate children about food?

Speaking test 2

Interview

– What do you do?
– What kind of fashion do you like?
– Has the attitude toward fashion changed recently in your country?

Cue card

Describe a book you liked when you were a child, please say
– what book it was,
– what the book was about,
– who gave it to you,
– why it was special to you.

Discussion

– In your country, has reading habit among young people changed recently?
– Do you prefer reading books or reading something on the internet?
– What information can you get from the internet?
– What kind of people do you see at a library in your country?

IELTS Speaking questions from the UK – July 2010

IELTS in the UK, not surprisingly, was just like the exam in France. Here is another version of the Speaking questions, kindly shared by J, who found IELTS-Blog helpful in their exam preparation and felt like giving back:

Speaking test

Interview

– Tell me about whether you are a student or do you have a job.
– Do you think first day at work is important?
– What languages do you speak?
– Do you want to learn any other language and why?

Clue card

Talk about a famous person, not from your country, that you like. Please say
– who that person is,
– where they are from,
– why you like them
– and explain why you want to meet them.

Follow up question: have you or any of your relatives met this person?

Discussion

– Why celebrities are important to a country?
– How a famous person can help people?
– Do you think that in the future nationality would not be important for celebrities?
– Is it an appropriate form of business for a celebrity to do advertisements?
