IELTS test in Romania and Iran – February 2011 (Academic Module)

IELTS exam questions and topics below were contributed by M from Romania and A from Iran, whom we thank very much. Here is what they remembered:

Listening test

Section 1. A man was calling an information center to find the closest medical clinic in the area and to ask about the services that they offer.

Section 2. A story about the progress in robotic technology.

Section 3. A description of a factory and the rooms it consists of: security, manager’s office, storing room, cafeteria, unloading room.
Questions: map labeling.

Section 4. Information about a company’s work and holiday schedule for its employees.

Reading test

Passage 1. A text about space satellites.

Passage 2. A text about the art of tattoos in a certain country.

Passage 3. Don’t remember.

Writing test

Writing task 1 (a report)

There were 3 bar charts that described 4 packaging materials (glass, aluminum, plastic and paper) and their usage in Japan, UK and USA in kilograms per capita.

Writing task 2 (an essay)

Some people say that the government is responsible for aged care and financial support for the elderly, others argue that its the role of individuals. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

IELTS test in India – February 2011 (General Training)

IELTS exam in India was remembered very well and shared by A, who took his test at IDP in Pune. Here is what A remembered:

Listening test

Section 1. A woman was ordering items over the phone, there were team description, code, color, etc that we had to recognize from the recording.

Section 2. A monologue about trip details for tourists.

Section 3. Two students were talking about car survey results.

Section 4. Description of human history from AD 4050.

Reading test

Passage 1. National Health Services (NHS) Australia, information about various plans.

Passage 2. Airline training program details.
Questions: 5-6 True/False/Not Given questions.

Passage 3. Various courses for adults at a community college.
Questions: 5-6 True/False/Not Given questions.

Passage 4. Different late night TV programs which can be recorded and listened to later.

Passage 5. Long biographical text about one of the famous archeologists (who also worked as economist) in Egypt, Europe etc.

Writing test

Writing Task 1 (a letter)

Write a letter to a friend who has invited you to dinner, in your letter
– Thank him for the invite, and suggest the exact date and time
– Tell him who else will be with you
– Describe the hotel location

Writing Task 2 (an essay)

Retirees have time for many different activities. What are those activities? What is the benefit of such activities to the retirees themselves and to the society?
