Writing task 1 (a report)

We were given 3 pie charts showing hours worked weekly by people in one country in 3 different categories (total workforce, owners/employers and employees) in 2010.

Writing task 2 (an essay)

Many governments in the world spend large amounts of money on art which helps to develop quality in people’s life. However, governments should spend money on other things rather than art. Do you agree or dis agree? Give your opinion.

– What is your home town?
– What was it like in the past to live in your home town?
– How did the situation improve now?
– What do you think about dieting?
– What do you think about healthy food as opposed to fast food?
– Is there a difference between healthy foods in the past and now?

Cue Card

Talk about your leisure time. Please say

– Where do you spend it?
– Whom do you spend it with?
– Do you enjoy spending it this way?

Discussion

– Are young and older generations using their leisure time differently?
– How will people use their leisure time in the next 10 years?

IELTS test in Australia – August 2012 (General Training)

Here comes an update sent by D (thanks!) who took the IELTS test in Australia. D only managed to remember the writing and speaking questions, but nevertheless these are still very useful.

Writing task 1 (a letter)

You have written an article for a magazine about the job that you do. Write a letter to your manager to ask for his/her comments on it.

– Explain why you have written this article.
– Give a short description of what you have written.
– Specify what particular things you want him/her to comment on.

Writing Task 2 (an essay)

In many countries recently young single people have been living far from their parents, from the time they began studies or work and until they married. Do you think there are more advantages or disadvantages to this trend?

– Do you like living there?
– Please tell me about your city and its development.

Describe what kind of exercises people do in your country.

– What exactly do they do?
