General Training Speaking Test

Interview
– What is your full Name?
– Do you work or study?
– Did you always want to be a software engineer?
– Do you remember your first day at work?
– Why do you think first day is important?
– How did you learn English?
– Do you like to travel? To what types of places?
– What do you like about traveling?

Cue card
Talk about a famous person outside your country, you should say
– who he / she is,
– why he / she is famous,
– how you came to know about him / her,
– what you know about him / her.

Discussion
– Can celebrities make any any difference to any cause?
– Why do businesses endorse celebrities?
– What is the advantage of having a celebrity in your country?

Academic Speaking Test

Interview
– Tell me your name, please.
– Where do you live?
– Why would you recommend your city as a travel destination to your friend?

Cue card
Talk about a walk with a friend that you remember, you should say
– when it was,
– with whom it was,
– why you remember it.

Discussion
– Are we walking less or more these days?

– How do you like your major?

– How often do you hang out with friends?
– Would you prefer your friends visiting you at home or going out?
– Where do you go when you hang out with your friends?
– What are the leisure activities people would like to do in Hong Kong?

– Did you have your art lessons at school?
– Do you think children should have drawing / art classes at school?

Cue Card 1

Talk about what would you like to start doing as a leisure activity. You should say:
– what the activity is,
– where you would do this activity,
– will it be easy or difficult to do this activity.

Cue Card 2

Describe an old person that you know, you should say
– who he / she is,
– what is he / she like,
– where you met him / her.

Discussion

– Do you know anyone who knows how to bake a cake?
– Think about the traditional leisure activities such as dragon boat racing, do you think we should neglect the old traditions and focus on the modern leisure activities?
