IELTS test in Sri Lanka and Saudi Arabia – December 2014 (General Training)

Two IELTS test takers H and E remembered the following information about their recent exams. They didn’t recall the topics in the Listening or the Reading sub tests, but apparently the Writing questions were the same in the two exams.

Writing Task 1 (a letter)

You are planning a party for your colleagues from work. Write a letter to them and say

– Why and when did you arrange the party?
– What activities have you arranged for the party?
– Explain how to get to your place.

Writing Task 2 (an essay)

Some people think that students at school need to learn practical skills such as repairing a car or maintaining a bank account, in addition to traditional academic subjects. To what extent do you agree or disagree? Give your opinion and support it with examples.

Interview

– What is your full name?

– Do you work or study?
– Where do you live now?
– Tell me about your neighbours.
– Do you think this place is good for families with children? Why?

– What is the difference between electronic and paper maps?

Discuss an instance when you shared information with someone. Please say

IELTS test in Canada – December 2014 (Academic Module)

Two IELTS test takers from Canada (thank you A and C!) remembered and shared the following information about their recent exam:

Writing test

Writing task 1 (a report)

We were given two graphs showing the survey results of people who smoke in one European country, divided into two categories. A bar graph was showing the percentage of male and female smokers in six different age groups in 2004 and a line graph was showing the trends of male and female smokers between 1974 and 2004.

Writing task 2 (an essay)

Some say full time students should spend most of their time studying, others believe that they should do other activities as well. To what extent do you agree or disagree? Use examples to support your answers.
