Speaking test

Part 1 (Interview)

– What is your full name?
– Do you work or study?
– Where are you from?
– What do you like about your hometown?
– Is there anything you dislike about your hometown?
– Why did you choose your job?
– What kind of job would you like to do in the future?

Part 2 (Cue Card)

Describe a visit to a friend or a relative that you enjoyed. You should say

– who you visited
– when you visited
– what you did during your visit

and explain why you enjoyed the visit.

Follow-up question: Do you usually visit this person?

Part 3 (Discussion)

– Do people visit each other’s homes in your country?
– Do you think most people enjoy having visitors?
– When visiting someone in another city, is it better to stay at their hosts’ house or in a hotel?
– How do people in your country welcome visitors?
– Is visiting friends and family still popular in your country?
– Why do you think people visit each other less frequently now compared to the past?

Writing task 1 (a letter)

A business partner and his team have recently visited your organisation, and one of the team members left a coat behind. Write a letter to your business partner. In your letter

– Say what you liked about their visit
– Explain why you think the coat belongs to one of their team members
– Tell them how you plan to return it

Writing task 2 (an essay)

Some people think that science should be part of everyone’s education, while others disagree. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
