IELTS Writing Test – General Training

Writing task 1 (a letter)

You have noticed that the street where you live has become dirty and that garbage is not being cleaned regularly. Write a letter to your local council. In your letter:

– Explain the problem and how it is affecting your area
– Describe your concerns about the impact of the issue
– Suggest what the council should do to improve the situation.

Write at least 150 words. You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Writing task 2 (an essay)

Some people believe that a child’s success in adulthood depends on the way they were brought up by their parents.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
