IELTS test in China and New Zealand – December 2010 (Academic Module)

IELTS exams in China and New Zealand shared by our kind friends Z and E sound identical. Here is what they remembered:

Listening test

Section 1. A conversation between a lady and salesman. She was buying some products for herself and a friend.

Questions: filling in blanks details regarding products’ colors and brands, how to deliver these products to her place and her friend’s place, payment method, total amount including delivery costs.

Section 2. About a trip to Spain. Tour guide talked about ferry, what people should bring with them to the trip. He described all hotel facilities and details about the destination.

Questions: multiple choice, filling in blanks.

Section 3. Discussion about what young people consider when buying a car. This part also talked about car safety and fashion.

Questions: multiple choice.

Section 4. Lecture about artifacts that were found in Rome.

Reading test

Passage 1. A research into human IQ and intelligence.

Passage 2. Human-like robots made by Honda Company.

Passage 3. About reptiles and amphibious, especially the kind found in Brazil and could fly (the pterosaurs).

Writing test

Writing task 1 (a report)

Describe a graph showing the percentage of workers from 5 European countries that took five or more sick days between 1991 and 2001.

Writing task 2 (an essay)

Write an essay on how young people’s behavior is influenced by their peers. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this?
