Cue card

Describe a greeting card you have received that was very special to you, please say:
– Who gave it to you?
– On what occasion?
– What was the message?
– Why was it special?

– How has the practice of posting cards to others change recently in your country?

IELTS test in the USA – May 2010 (Academic Module)

IELTS exam in the US was shared by E (thank you!) who remembered the following:

Reading test

Passage 1. About proto-language and full language.
Passage 2. About homeopathy.
Passage 3. About a lake created by a meteorite and how research helps to learn about climate.

Writing test

Writing task 1 (a report)

We had to describe a table that was about five countries in three different years (2000, 2010 and 2015) and the numbers in the table showed how many people lived in the same household.

Writing task 2 (an essay)

As technology develops, more shopping and business is done through the internet while communication face to face becomes less frequent. Is this a positive or a negative development?

Speaking test

Interview
– The usual questions.
– Describe your hometown.
– What kind of food do you remember from your hometown?

Cue Card
Talk about a special toy that you have received as a child.
– describe the toy,
– say when it was given to you,
– who gave it to you,
– explain you used it for.

Discussion
– Can you find the same toy nowadays?
– Do you think parents should give educational toys to their children?
