IELTS test in Canada – November 2011 (General Training)

Listening test IELTS test in Canada

Section 1. A teacher was making a group booking for a movie on behalf of the students.

Section 2. An interview with a car company representative on car fuel efficiency in Australia.

Section 3. A lecture on analysis of traditional lecture method followed by discussion of various options to replace it.

Section 4. Two students were discussing two different courses and getting advice from their tutor.

Reading test

Passage 1. Three restaurant advertisement boards and questions related to it.

Passage 2. Multiple paragraphs describing various restaurants in a city.
Questions: choose a suitable topic for each question.

Passage 3. About a car pool program for employees in the office.
Questions: filling in blanks on a flow chart of the process.

Passage 4. Don’t remember.

Writing test

Writing task 1 (a letter)

Write a letter to a bus tour company manager about a tour guide who did an excellent job on your tour. Please say

– What tour did you take?
– Why do you think the tour guide was excellent?
– Suggest some ways to the manager to reward that tour guide.

Writing Task 2 (an essay)

Most students choose to work part time during university studies. Do you think its a good or a bad idea? Give your opinion and support it with an explanation and examples.

Passage 1. Comparison of 2 species of ants.

Passage 2. Discovery of the planet Venus.

Passage 3. Old and new ways of advertising.

Writing test

Writing task 1 (a report)

We were given pie charts, graphs and the map of USA, showing utilization of agricultural lands in 4 regions. Each region had a pie chart and a graph.

Writing task 2 (an essay)

Some say that economic development is the solution to poverty; others say it is the cause of poverty. Do you agree or disagree with the statement? Give your own opinion.

Speaking test

– How do you spend your weekends?
– How do you plan to spend your weekend 2 weeks from now?
– Do you think it is important to make the most of your weekend?

Cue Card

Talk about a leader or a role model that you have (in sports, politics or any other field). Please say
