Speaking test

Interview

– Questions about myself.
– Questions about places to see in my home country.
– What languages do you speak?
– Are there any other languages you wish to study?
– Are you collecting anything?
– What would you like to collect in the future?
– Why people are collecting things?

Cue Card

Talk about an activity that you do to keep yourself healthy. You should say:
– what this activity is,
– when you do it,
– where you do it,
– whether you would recommend this to others and why.

Discussion

– How did the people in earlier generations keep themselves healthy?
– Has it changed?
– What do you think people should start doing today to stay healthy?
– What can the government do to support healthy lifestyle?

IELTS test in Australia – April 2010 (General Training)

IELTS test in New South Wales, Australia, was collectively remembered by V and M (thank you!). Here is what they shared:

Listening test

Section 1. A man waning to rent an apartment was filling an accommodation request form.

Section 2. Choices of various locations, streets.
Questions: Was the accommodation for a single person, how much he wants to spend, should it be near train station, whether he was interested in those streets or not.

Section 3. Don’t remember.

Section 4. Origin of football in 19th century and how it has became a worldwide popular sport.

Reading test

Passage 1. A text about tours for little kids.
Passage 2 and 3. Don’t remember.
Passage 4. About a bird named Albatross. How they lay eggs, then how those hatch, etc.

Writing test

Writing Task 1 (a letter)

You are about to start social meetings in a particular area, where people from different nationalities can take part. Write a letter to the news editor of the local newspaper, requesting him to publish information about this. Include the following:
– what activities you have planned,
– when the first meeting takes place and where.

Writing Task 2 (an essay)

In some societies more and more people are choosing to live on their own. What do you think are the reasons for this?
Is it a negative or a positive trend? Give examples from you own knowledge.

– Do you like driving? What are the benefits of driving?
