IELTS test in Spain was described by S., and thanks to her amazing memory we know this much:
Listening test
Section 1. A local officer interviews a lady called Julia about her opinion of the area where she is living (why she moved there, what she likes and dislikes about the place, etc).
Questions: completing a table and multiple-choice (A, B, C or D).
Section 2. Information about various teachers (their training, experience and current hobbies), all related to photography.
Questions: completing a table.
Section 3. Important questions and things to do before, during and after a placement in a company.
Questions: filling in the gaps and completing a table.
Section 4. Development of the textile manufacturing in the UK.
Questions: multiple-choice.
Reading test
Passage 1. The various forms of marine energy (wave-force plants, tidal energy, current energy and thermal energy) and the attempts to capture that energy through pilot projects, successful working plants, etc.
Questions: multiple-choice and filling in the gaps.
Passage 2. Parental involvement programs in different countries (Europe, the USA and Canada mainly). Different studies and researches by several authors into the field.
Questions: multiple-choice.
Passage 3. Development of the sound recording industry from the cylinder format to the vinyl records. The ancient formats and leading companies in the industry and different advances between 1900 and the Second World War with the invention of Magnetophon.
Questions: multiple-choice, filling in the gaps and matching information to the right paragraph.
Writing test
Writing Task 1 (a report)
Bar graph showing the rate of local, national/international and mobile calls in the UK between 1995 and 2002. The number of calls was measured in billions of minutes.
Writing Task 2 (an essay)
There are many people who think prisons are just for criminals’ punishment, while other people think they can be used for other purposes. Discuss both points of view and give your opinion.
Speaking test
Interview
- What’s your complete name?
- Describe the place where you live.
- How much time do you think you are going to live in that place?
- Is transport network good where you live?
- How often do you meet your friends, what do you usually do?
- Do you prefer to invite them to your place or go out?
- Would you like to meet them more often?
- Is there many advertising in Spain? What do you think?
- Have you ever bought a product after watching and advertisement of it?
Cue card
Describe a magazine or newspaper article you have recently read. You should say:
- Where (source) and when did you read it?
- What was it about?
- Why did you remember it?
Discussion
- Do you think television and newspaper news differ in the way we remember them? Why?
- What do you think newspapers and magazines should do to keep on being a strong news sources?
- Which source of information do you prefer?
- To what extent do you think journalism can influence the spreading of new ideas?
