IELTS test in the USA – January 2018 (General Training)

Our friend S took the IELTS test in the United States and remembered the following questions and topics:

Listening testIELTS test in USA

Section 1. A conversation between a drama teacher and a student’s father.
Section 2. Don’t remember.
Section 3. A discussion between a teacher and 2 students.
Section 4. A monologue about barbers.

Reading test

Passage 1. Bus routes advertisement.
Passage 2. About parcel sending.
Passage 3. History of maps.

Writing test

Writing task 1 (a letter)

Every year your company organizes a sports event for a local community, but this year they can’t do it. Write a letter to your local newspaper about this. In your letter

– Express your feelings about missing the sports event
– Tell them about your plans for next year
– Explain how this sports event is useful.

Writing Task 2 (an essay)

In some counties younger people are increasingly losing interest in teaching. Why is this happening? What can be done to improve the situation? Give reasons for your answer and include examples from your own experience.

Speaking test

Interview

– What is your full name?
– Can I see your ID?
– Where are you from?
– Do you work or study?
– What work/study do you do?

Cue Card

Talk about a car journey experience that was memorable for you. Please say:

– where did you go?
– what kind of car did you drive?
– who was there with you?
– why was this journey memorable?

Discussion

Which is better, cars or public transport?
How is the public transport system in your home country?
What should the government do to promote public transport?
Do you see driverless cars as the future of cars?

IELTS Results competition winners in January 2018

As the famous saying goes, “In every end there is also a new beginning”, and these words carry deep meaning.
