IELTS test in Bangladesh and Iran – May 2015 (General Training)

Two IELTS test takers from Bangladesh and Iran (thank you, S and A!) remembered the following details about their apparently identical exams:

Listening testIELTS test in Bangladesh

Section 1. A phone conversation between a social service worker and a women that needed to hire a nanny.
Questions: filling in blanks.

Section 2. A conversation between students and a lecturer about an ongoing seminar and different topics discussed in different auditoriums.
Questions: filling in blanks, match auditoriums to topics.

Section 3. Don’t remember.

Section 4. About four different kinds of primary schools, their specialities, advantages and disadvantages.
Questions: filling in blanks.

Reading test

Passage 1. An advertisement and description of different holiday parks.

Passage 2. An advertisement about city library services.

Passage 3. An advertisement about an internship program in a reputed company.

Passage 4. An article about animal tape recordings collection at a wild life library.

Writing test

Writing task 1 (a letter)

You have met an old friend in another city on your last business trip. Now you are going on another business trip in the same city and want to meet him/her again. Write a letter to your friend and say

– Express your excitement about the last meeting.
– Give details about your new business trip.
– Suggest an arrangement to meet again.

Writing Task 2 (an essay)

Some practical skills such as money management should be taught in high school. Do you agree or disagree? Give your opinion and real life examples.

– What is your full name?
– Can I see your ID?
– Where are you from?
– Do you work or study?
– Where do you live now?
– Do you live in a house or an apartment?
– Are there any shops close to your home?
– Do you prefer to send emails or letters? Why?
– When did you find it difficult to write an email or letter?

Cue Card

Talk about your school friend who was a good leader. Please say

– Describe him/her.
– Why do you think he/she is a good leader?
– What did other people say about him/her?

Discussion

– Do you think you can be a good leader?
– Who do you think is the decision maker in a family?
– Do you think a woman can play the main role in a family?
– Who will be the decision maker in a family in the future?
– Do you think managers should involve employees in the decision-making process?
– Can you compare a manager to an employee?
