IELTS test in India and Saudi Arabia – May 2015 (General Training)

Three IELTS test takers (thank you, A, G and R!) remembered the topics and questions from their recent exams in India and Saudi Arabia. The exams seem to be the same:

Reading test

Passage 1. About the bus service in some town.

Passage 2. About rights of employees in different companies.

Passage 3. About global warming and the coming ice age.

Writing test

Writing task 1 (a letter)

You recently stayed in a hotel and encountered a problem. A hotel receptionist helped you resolve the situation. Write a letter to the hotel manager and say

– What was the problem?
– How did the receptionist help you?
– Suggest how this problem can be solved permanently.

Writing Task 2 (an essay)

Nowadays many people work part or full time from home. Some people say that working from home has many benefits while others disagree. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Discussion 2

– Is it the natural ability or training and experience that brings out the best in a sportsman?

IELTS test in Thailand – April 2015 (Academic Module)

An IELTS test taker from Thailand (thanks, P!) remembered the following details about a recent exam:

Section 1. A phone call to an insurance company.

Section 2. A radio program about vacations and holiday destinations.

Section 3. A lecturer was speaking in front of the class about an experiment of creating three different types of rockets.

Section 4. About a nutrition survey done in New Zealand.

Reading test

Passage 1. About the first daily weather forecast prepared by Robert Fitzroy.

Passage 2. Theories of dreaming including description of brain functions, REM, emotion therapy and so on.

Passage 3. Don’t remember.

Writing task 1 (a report)

We were given a bar chart showing information on common places where people usually accessed internet in the UK between 1998 and 2004 (home, workplace, library and so on).

Writing task 2 (an essay)

Some people think that teenagers who commit crimes should be treated the same way as adult criminals. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
