IELTS Speaking test in South Africa – May 2013

An IELTS test taker from South Africa (thanks I!) shared his Speaking questions from a recent exam:

InterviewIELTS test in South Africa

– What is your full name?
– Can I see your ID or passport?
– Where do you come from?
– Do you work or study?
– What is your normal day like?
– What do you do after work? Why?
– If you could change something in your daily schedule, what would it be and why?

Cue card

Talk about an important person you know. You should say
– what they do
– where they are
– how they help people
– why you consider them important.

Discussion

– Does everyone agree with you about that person being important?
– Is there any profession which is more important than others?
– Should people receive the same salary when they do different jobs?
– Do you think some people are in the wrong profession, or in a profession they dislike?
– What are some of the reasons why people dislike their professions?
– How much writing do you do in a day and why?
– Would you be able to write a book?

IELTS test in Thailand – May 2013 (Academic Module)

The IELTS test taker from Thailand (thanks N!) shared this exam update:

Listening testIELTS test in Thailand

Section 1. Application forms for work-related travel.

Section 2. About a university.
Questions: short-answer questions (no more than X words), map labeling.

Section 3. Don’t remember.

Section 4. A lecture about history.

Reading test

Passage 1. Water management procedures.
Questions: short-answer questions, True/False/Not Given.

Passage 2. About biometrics.
Questions: filling in blanks.

Passage 3. About science.
Questions: match headings to paragraphs.

Writing test

Writing task 1 (a report)

We were given a bar chart showing the water consumption in 5 countries and a table with cost of water in these countries.

Writing task 2 (an essay)

Some people think that humans can use animals in any way for their own benefit. Others, however, believe that people should not use animals in the wrong way. Discuss both this views and give your opinion.

– What are the parameters by which people are choosing jobs? Why?
– What is the difference between jobs for men and women?
– What suggestion would you give to children for choosing a future job?
– Do you agree that children should do part-time jobs? Why?
