Listening test

Section 1. Hotel orders some brochures to be printed. Updates provided over telephone for re-print.

Section 2. Don’t remember.

Section 3. A talk between a counselor and a student about a project on recycling.

Section 4. Perfume ornaments – the history of perfume bottles.

Reading test

Passage 1. Wildlife parks in Africa.

Passage 2. Southampton Park visitors’ brochure.

Passage 3. NIT short courses.

Passage 4. Serendipity in science – accidental discoveries.

Writing test

Writing Task 1 (a letter)

You have arranged a meeting with your business partner. Unfortunately you have to change the arrangements. Write a letter to your partner, in the letter
- explain the new arrangements,
- apologize for changes,
- explain the reasons why changes were needed.

Writing Task 2 (an essay)

What are the benefits of increased physical activities at school? Are some physical activities beneficial more than others?

Speaking test

Interview

- What is your name?
- Where are you from?
- Let’s talk about fashion and clothing.
- Do you enjoy the new trends in fashion?

Cue Card

Talk about how you spent your last weekend, please say
- where you went,
- who went there with you,
- what you did there.

Discussion

- Are leisure activities important?
- What are the future trends in different types of work culture?

IELTS Speaking test in New Zealand – July 2010

IELTS exam in New Zealand was just like the one in China and Indonesia, according to our friend M. Here is what M remembered from the Speaking test:

Speaking test

Interview

- What is your name?
- Do you work or study?
- Do you like your job?
- Do you have a large family?
- Where do you prefer to go shopping?

Cue Card

Talk about changes in your hometown, please say:
- whether these changes happened / are happening quickly,
- what your town looks like,
- what changes happened recently,
- what other changes are going to happen in future.

Discussion

The questions were about:
- Tradition
- Food
- Culture
- Home and children
- Old and new generations, some views about tradition.
